Digio Strategies and Queen City Newsfeed are looking for a motivated, creative and community-minded individual to join our Meridian team as a News Reporter.

This position combines local journalism, digital content creation and community engagement. The ideal candidate will help cover the stories that matter to people across East Mississippi and West Alabama while creating timely, engaging content for Queen City Newsfeed’s website and social media platforms.

NEWS REPORTER RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

• Finding, developing and covering local news stories across East Mississippi and West Alabama
• Writing clear, accurate and engaging news stories for QueenCityNewsfeed.com and social media
• Conducting interviews with local officials, businesses, community leaders and residents
• Covering breaking news, community events, press conferences and other local happenings
• Capturing photos, video and other digital content for Facebook and other platforms
• Developing story ideas and following up on news tips and leads
• Building relationships with local agencies, organizations and community members
• Helping keep Queen City Newsfeed timely, relevant and connected to the community

Strong writing, communication, social media and organizational skills are important. Experience in journalism, broadcasting or digital media is preferred, but not required. We are looking for someone who knows the community, enjoys meeting people, is curious about what’s happening locally and is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where every day can be different.

The position provides a draw against commission, with additional bonuses tied to sales goals.
